Claire usually wakes up at 6:30. Unless she wakes up at 5:30. Or 2:30 and then doesn’t go back down until 4, but even then she wakes up again around 6:30 and I’m exhausted because her father doesn’t get up with her unless I MAKE him and then he’ll ask me if I want a chart and when I say, yes I want a pie chart, he’ll look at me like I’m crazy and say he can’t make a pie chart, woman! How about a line chart. Why would I even consider a pie chart?
But, I digress.
So, she gets up around 6:30 and [hopefully] takes a nap around 9. This is good because she sleeps for at least an hour and a half and I’m still wired from the 3 cups of coffee I had to drink to ward off the aformentioned exhaustion. So, I get some stuff done. Anyway, she’s usually rolling around on the floor and I can tell when she’s getting tired because instead of complaining that she can’t crawl yet [side note: she can get either her front up, her bottom up, or just her left side up, but not everything at once], she lays lays down. So, I get on the floor with her, face to face, and start singing “You Are My Sunshine.”
And, it’s amazing. She gets this huge smile on her face, and reaches for me to cuddle with her. She’ll put one hand in my hair, and the other on my arm and we lay on the floor and I sing. Or, she’ll roll over so she’s facing away from me and scoot right up against me and hold my hand while I sing to her.
I kinda wish that song had more verses because I end up singing it about a thousand times. Sometimes I switch to “The Teddy Bear’s Picnic.” Or, like yesterday “American Pie.”
Then, when she’s almost asleep, we move into my bedroom and cuddle some more and she’s out.
I love mornings.
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I crossed off one of my 101 things. Beat Paul Evans at darts. I actually did it! It was quite a game too. We were playing 501, where you start with 501 points and work your way down. We both had 3 points left and spent about 3 rounds trying to get the 3. Then, on my first throw, I hit 3. It was awesome!
I’ve got pictures, but I can’t find the cord to my camera. As soon as I do, you’ll see the greatness of the game!
